What was the name of the first President of Poland (the Second Polish Republic)? This question is often asked during knowledge tests in school. However, the knowledge on this topic is so basic that every Polish adult should possess it.

The first President of Poland was Gabriel Narutowicz. He was inaugurated on December 11, 1922, and on December 14, he received the transfer of power from Józef Piłsudski. Unfortunately, he did not hold the office of the President for long. A few days later, on December 16, 1922, Gabriel Narutowicz was assassinated during a visit to the Zachęta Gallery.
