What is the record in pole vault?

The current record in pole vaulting belongs to Swedish athlete Armand Duplantis (born in 1999). This jumper broke the world record in both categories: on an open stadium – 6.15 m (achieved on September 17, 2020 in Rome) and indoors – 6.18 m (Glasgow, February 15, 2020). This last record also stands as the absolute world record. The previous record belonged to Frenchman Renaud Lavillenie and was 6.16m (Donetsk, February 15, 2014). Among women, the highest jump in history was made by Yelena Isinbayeva: 5.06 m (Zurich, August 28, 2009).

Pole vaulting is a discipline that was already present at the first modern Olympic Games.
