Neva Masquerade – what kind of cat is it?

The name of Neva Masquerade cats is related to their place of origin. The first animals of this breed appeared in the area around St. Petersburg, where the Neva River flows. The second part of the name comes from the masquerade balls organized in those regions. Neva Masquerade cats have a characteristic mask on their faces, called a pointed coloration. It is characterized by the fact that certain parts of the animals’ bodies (muzzle, ears, tail, paws) have dark markings, while the torso remains light. The breed was created as a result of natural crossbreeding between Siberian cats and Siamese cats. Some breeders consider them a variation of Siberian cats.

Neva Masquerade cats stand out with their impressive appearance. Kittens are born white, and they achieve their final coloration at the age of 3. The animals have semi-long, dense fur, which forms, among other things, an impressive collar, tufts on their paws and ears, and a fluffy tail. Nevys are classified as forest cats, hence their sturdy build. Adult individuals can weigh up to 9 kg. Nevys have blue eyes. They are not only exceptionally beautiful but also very intelligent cats. They are smart and need many new challenges on a daily basis. They feel very comfortable at heights. If they cannot climb a tree, they can successfully replace it with a wardrobe. Nevys are naturally gentle and bond strongly with their owners. They enjoy the company of humans and other animals, but they do not tolerate solitude well. They are among the most talkative cats. They can use a wide range of different sounds, which become understandable to the owner over time.
