Is denim made of cotton?

Jeans are also known as dżins, teksas, or denim. It is a cotton fabric woven in a twill weave. Classic jeans had a distinct blue color, achieved using indigo – a pigment obtained from the leaves of the indigo plant. Nowadays, versions in various colors are popular. Traditional jeans are made of 98% cotton and 2% elastane, although there are now available variations with different proportions. It is worth remembering that a high percentage of cotton means that the jeans are stiff. Elastane, on the other hand, makes the jeans soft and better fitting to the silhouette, but too much elastane can cause the material to quickly lose its original shape.
