‘Can you live without a pancreas?’

The pancreas is an organ that does not have its own “reserve”, like the lungs or kidneys which are vital for functioning. We only have one pancreas, and its role in the body is invaluable. However, this does not mean that one cannot live without a pancreas. In certain medical situations, such as cancer, its removal may be recommended. A patient without a pancreas can function normally, but they must constantly supplement certain substances, including insulin in the form of injections. Digestive enzymes also need to be supplemented, fortunately, this is possible in the form of oral tablets.
