What is the tallest building in the world?

The tallest building in the world currently (2021) is the Burj Khalifa (Khalifa Tower) in Dubai, which was built in 2009. It measures an impressive 828 meters, with a significant portion being occupied by the spire – the height of the building up to the roof is 621.3 meters. The building has 163 floors and cost $1.5 billion. Its name comes from Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who has been the President of the United Arab Emirates since 2004.

There is a high chance that the Burj Khalifa will not hold the title of the tallest building in the world for long. Currently under construction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is the Jeddah Tower, which is set to be the first building in the world to have a height of over 1 kilometer. Construction began in 2013, but the completion date has not been announced.
