What is the smallest country in the world?

The smallest country in the world officially recognized on the international stage is Vatican City. It has only 839 citizens and covers an area of 44 hectares. Some urban parks in Warsaw, such as Skaryszewski Park or Mokotowskie Fields, are much larger than Vatican City. The capital of Poland is 1175 times bigger than Vatican City!

There are several self-proclaimed microstates smaller than Vatican City, but they are not recognized as states by the international community. One such state is Sealand, located on an offshore drilling platform off the coast of the United Kingdom, which is only 100 square meters. Its self-proclaimed ruler is Prince Michael Bates.
