What is decorum?

Name decorum translated from Latin means something appropriate. That is why it is also referred to as the principle of appropriateness. It was introduced in Aristotle’s Poetics. Decorum refers to the conformity of content with form. For example, an epic requires a high style, which is no longer applicable in comedy.
